Chocolate Buttercream Truffles

Indulge in a decadent treat with these homemade Chocolate Buttercream Truffles. Perfect for special occasions or a sweet treat anytime, these truffles are creamy, chocolatey, and just a touch fancy. Here’s how you can make them!

Ingredients:

  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 16 ounces Ghirardelli dark chocolate melting wafers, melted
  • Sprinkles for garnish

Directions:

  1. Prepare the Buttercream Filling:
    • In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar until smooth. This will create a rich and creamy base for your truffles.
    • Add the milk to the mixture and continue to beat for an additional 2-3 minutes until the buttercream is fluffy and light.
  2. Chill the Mixture:
    • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about an hour (or longer if needed) to firm up the buttercream, making it easier to shape into balls.
  3. Shape the Truffles:
    • Scoop 1 tablespoon-sized balls of the buttercream mixture and place them onto a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
    • Freeze the buttercream balls for about 30 minutes to firm them up further.
  4. Coat with Chocolate:
    • Melt the dark chocolate melting wafers according to the package directions until smooth and silky.
    • Using a toothpick, dip each buttercream ball into the melted chocolate, tapping the side of the bowl to remove any excess chocolate.
    • Drop the coated truffles back onto the parchment paper and immediately sprinkle with your choice of sprinkles for a festive touch.
  5. Let the Truffles Set:
    • Allow the chocolate coating to set by letting the truffles sit at room temperature or place them back in the fridge for a few minutes if needed.
