Spicy Fish Nuggets Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 300 g boneless white fish, cut into cubes
  • ¾ cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons dried parsley
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk

For Fish Spice Mix:

  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1-2 teaspoons peri peri seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon crushed black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

Directions:

  1. Marinate the Fish:
    • Start by marinating the fish cubes with vinegar, peri peri seasoning, ginger garlic paste, salt, and crushed black pepper. Once evenly coated, sprinkle 2 tablespoons of flour over the fish to help the marinade stick.
  2. Prepare the Coating:
    • In a bowl, combine the panko breadcrumbs, 4 tablespoons of flour, and dried parsley.
    • In another bowl, whisk together the egg and milk.
  3. Coat the Fish:
    • Dip each marinated fish cube into the egg mixture, ensuring it’s fully covered. Then, roll the fish in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing lightly to adhere the crumbs. Set the coated fish nuggets aside. If you’re preparing these ahead of time, you can freeze the fish nuggets at this point for later cooking.
  4. Cooking Methods:
    • To Deep Fry: Heat oil in a deep pot over medium heat. Fry the fish nuggets until they are golden and crispy on each side. Once done, drain them on paper towels.
    • To Air Fry: Arrange the fish nuggets in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Lightly spray them with olive oil. Air fry at 180°C (350°F) for 10-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the nuggets are golden and crispy.
    • To Bake: Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Bake the fish nuggets on a lined baking sheet for 15-18 minutes until they are crispy and cooked through.
  5. Serve:
    • Serve the spicy fish nuggets with tartar sauce or your favorite dip. For an extra kick, sprinkle some additional peri peri seasoning on top.
