Ingredients
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 medium onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 (24 ounce) jar marinara sauce
1 pound uncooked potato gnocchi
1 handful fresh basil, torn
2 cups shredded mozzarella
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400F and adjust the rack to the top third of the oven.
In an oven-proof skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for 5-7 minutes until softened and lightly browned.
Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Pour in the marinara sauce and add the uncooked gnocchi. Stir well until the sauce begins to bubble slightly.
Remove from heat, stir in the torn basil, and top evenly with shredded mozzarella.
Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake, uncovered, for 15 minutes. Broil for a few extra minutes to brown the cheese, watching closely to avoid burning.
Let it rest for a few minutes before serving. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve with freshly grated Parmesan and additional basil if desired.
