Description

These Air Fryer French Toast Sticks are the perfect blend of crispy and sweet, making them an ideal breakfast treat or mid-morning snack. The thick slices of stale bread soak up just the right amount of egg mixture, ensuring they are moist on the inside and perfectly crisp on the outside. A quick toss in cinnamon sugar right out of the air fryer adds a delightful sweetness that makes these sticks irresistible.

Ingredients

Scale

4 slices thick-sliced stale bread (like Texas toast)
⅓ cup milk
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
⅓ cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon
Maple syrup (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your air fryer to 350°F, if preheating is required.
Slice each bread slice into four sticks and set them aside.
In a shallow bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined. In a separate shallow bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon, and set aside.
Quickly dip each bread stick into the egg mixture, ensuring they are coated but not soaked. Shake off any excess egg mixture and place the sticks in the air fryer basket.
Cook the French toast sticks at 350°F for about 8 minutes, flipping them halfway through, until they are just crispy.
Immediately toss the freshly cooked French toast sticks in the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat. Make sure to do this quickly so the sugar sticks well.
Serve the French toast sticks fresh with a drizzle of maple syrup, if desired.
