1 cup milk
3/4 cup apple butter
2 TBS unsalted butter, melted
2 TBS molasses
1 tsp ground cinnamon
For Topping:
1 tsp ground cinnamon (divided)
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 TBS unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

Cut the loaf into slices, about 1 to 1 1/2 inches thick. Set aside.
In a small bowl, combine eggs, milk, apple butter, melted butter, molasses, and cinnamon. Stir well.
Dip the bread slices into the egg mixture, ensuring each side is coated. Place the slices on a cookie sheet and pour any extra mixture over them.
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight (optional).
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch square pan.
Mix brown sugar and cinnamon. Spread butter over the bread slices, then sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
Arrange the bread slices upright in the prepared pan.
If there’s extra butter or sugar mixture, sprinkle it over the top.
Bake for 35-40 minutes, until hot throughout and golden brown on top.
Serve hot with your favorite syrup.
