Description

This Classic Cinnamon Apple Crumble is a timeless dessert that brings together the warmth of spiced apples with a buttery, golden crumble. The tartness of the Granny Smith apples pairs beautifully with the sweetness of the brown sugar and cinnamon. The crumble topping adds a satisfying crunch that complements the tender, juicy apples beneath.

Ingredients

Scale

Crumble Topping:
1 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup light or dark brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
8 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
Filling:
2 1/2 pounds Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced or diced into bite-sized pieces (about 6 to 7 cups)
1/2 cup granulated sugar or brown sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 tablespoons cornstarch or all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray an 8 or 9-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray and set aside.
Prepare the Crumble Topping: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
Add the melted butter to the dry ingredients and stir with a fork until the mixture becomes crumbly. Set aside.
Prepare the Filling: In a large bowl, combine the apples, sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch (or flour), salt, and cinnamon. Stir until the apples are evenly coated.
Transfer the apple mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it into an even layer.
Evenly sprinkle the crumble topping over the apple mixture.
Bake for 35 to 45 minutes, or until the crumble topping is golden brown and the apple filling is bubbling.
Let the apple crumble cool for 15 minutes before serving. Optionally, serve warm with vanilla ice cream for a delicious treat.
