- 1 ¾ cups (217g) all-purpose flour
 - 1 ½ tsp cinnamon
 - 1 tsp allspice
 - 1 tsp nutmeg
 - ¼ tsp cloves
 - ½ tsp salt
 - 1 tsp baking soda
 - ½ cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened
 - 1 cup (200g) sugar
 - 1 large egg, beaten
 - 1 cup applesauce
 
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a 9″x5″ loaf pan by generously spraying it with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.
 - In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, cloves, salt, and baking soda.
 - In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
 - Add the beaten egg to the creamed butter and sugar, mixing well until fully blended. Stir in the applesauce until well combined.
 - Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, mixing until just incorporated. Ensure not to overmix.
 - Transfer the batter to the prepared baking pan. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
 - Allow the cake to cool slightly before serving. Optionally, sprinkle with powdered sugar to enhance the presentation.
