FOR THE FILLING:
6 cups peeled and sliced pears (about 67 medium pears)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 ½ teaspoons cinnamon
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
¼ teaspoon salt
FOR THE TOPPING:
1 stick (½ cup) salted butter, softened
½ cup all-purpose flour
½ cup rolled oats
½ cup granulated sugar
½ cup brown sugar
1/3 cup finely-chopped pecans
¼ teaspoon salt
Optional for serving:
Vanilla ice cream
Caramel sauce


Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8-inch square baking dish.
In a large bowl, toss sliced pears with vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Transfer to the baking dish.
In another bowl, mix butter, flour, oats, both sugars, pecans, and salt until clumpy. Spread evenly over pears.
Bake for 45 minutes or until topping is golden and pears are tender. Cool slightly before serving.
Serve warm, topped with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce, if desired.
