Ingredients
Scale
- 2 racks baby back ribs
- 1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite variety)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Prepare the Ribs Start by removing the membrane from the back of the ribs with the help of a knife to loosen a corner and pull it off. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper if desired. Rub this mixture all over the ribs to ensure an even coating.
- Slow Cook the Ribs Apply a light coating of olive oil inside the slow cooker. Cut the ribs into sections, if necessary, to fit them inside the cooker. Spread 1/2 cup of the BBQ sauce over the ribs, making sure they are well coated. Cover and set to cook on LOW for 6-8 hours or HIGH for 3-4 hours, until the ribs are tender and nearly falling off the bone.
- Finish with a BBQ Glaze Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) or switch your broiler to high. After cooking, remove the ribs carefully from the slow cooker and lay them on a foil-lined baking sheet. Brush them with the remaining BBQ sauce. Either bake or broil for 5-7 minutes until the sauce caramelizes and turns sticky.
- Serve and Enjoy Cut the ribs into portions and serve immediately, accompanied by extra BBQ sauce for dipping.
