Topped with the nutty hint of sesame seeds and an optional spicy kick of sriracha, this dish offers a delightful blend of textures and flavors, making it a wholesome choice for a nutritious meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1 Tbsp sriracha
  • 1/2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 head green cabbage
  • 2 carrots
  • 3 green onions
  • 1/2 Tbsp neutral cooking oil
  • 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 Tbsp fresh grated ginger
  • Pinch of salt and pepper
  • 1 Tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1 Tbsp sriracha

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Prepare the Sauce Combine soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, sriracha, and brown sugar in a small bowl. Mix well and set aside.
  2. Step 2: Shred the Vegetables Shred half a head of cabbage after removing the core, and aim for 4-6 cups of shredded cabbage. Peel the carrots and grate them to yield about 1 cup. Slice the green onions for later use.
  3. Step 3: Cook the Beef Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the neutral cooking oil followed by the ground beef, minced garlic, grated ginger, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Cook until the beef is fully browned, about 5 minutes.
  4. Step 4: Add Vegetables and Sauce Add the shredded cabbage and carrots to the skillet. Stir frequently while cooking until the cabbage reaches your desired level of wilt. Stir in the previously prepared sauce along with the sliced green onions. Mix thoroughly to ensure even flavor distribution.
  5. Step 5: Garnish and Serve Once cooking is complete, serve the stir-fry hot. Garnish with sesame seeds and an additional drizzle of sriracha if desired.
