1 lb. ground beef (15% fat)
1/2 medium yellow onion, finely diced
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 15-oz. can pinto beans, drained and rinsed
1 15-oz. can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1 15-oz. can tomato sauce
1 15-oz. can diced tomatoes
3 tablespoons tomato paste
1 tablespoon maple syrup
3 tablespoons chili powder
2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
1 cup beef broth (or substitute chicken broth or water)
Optional Toppings:
Shredded cheddar cheese
Fritos
Green onion


Instructions

Heat a large stockpot over medium-high heat. Add ground beef, yellow onion, and minced garlic, and sauté for 7-10 minutes or until the beef is fully browned.
Add pinto beans, kidney beans, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and maple syrup to the pot and stir to combine.
Add all the spices and 1 cup of broth. Stir well to combine.
Bring the chili to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Allow it to simmer for 10-15 minutes to thicken.
Serve hot with your favorite toppings and enjoy!
