Ingredients

Scale

4 tablespoons butter
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups chicken broth
1 ¼ cups half and half
½ lb. medium pasta shells
¼ teaspoon EACH: onion powder, dried thyme, salt
½ teaspoon EACH: dried oregano, dried parsley
3 ½ cups broccoli florets, uncooked
2 teaspoons lemon juice
¾ cup Parmesan cheese, finely grated into a powder

Instructions

Prepare Ingredients: Measure out all ingredients before starting. Cut the broccoli into smaller pieces for quicker cooking. (This step is known as “mise en place” and helps make the cooking process smoother.)
Melt Butter: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
Add Liquids & Seasonings: Pour in the chicken broth, half and half, and add the onion powder, thyme, salt, oregano, and parsley. Stir to combine.
Cook the Pasta: Bring the mixture to a boil and add the pasta shells. Submerge them fully in the liquid and let it return to a boil. Cover partially and cook according to the pasta package instructions.
Add Broccoli: In the last 6 minutes of pasta cooking time, add the broccoli florets. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
Check Doneness: Remove the cover and taste-test a pasta shell for doneness. If needed, cover and cook a bit longer until the pasta is perfectly tender.
Finish the Dish: Once the pasta is done, remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in the lemon juice and gently mix in the Parmesan cheese using a silicone spatula.
Serve: Let the sauce thicken slightly as it stands. Garnish with additional parsley if desired, and serve with garlic bread with cheese. Enjoy your delicious broccoli pasta!
