Buttery Garlic Pizza: A Simple Yet Flavorful Delight

There’s something incredibly satisfying about a homemade pizza, especially when it’s infused with the rich flavors of garlic, butter, and fresh herbs. This Buttery Garlic Pizza is perfect for those who love the simplicity of a white pizza but crave a burst of aromatic herbs and a bit of a kick from red pepper flakes. It’s quick, easy, and guaranteed to impress your taste buds.

Ingredients

  • 1 recipe artisan pizza dough (2 dough balls)
  • 1 stick salted butter
  • 3 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 2 tbsp minced green onion
  • 1 tbsp minced rosemary
  • 1 tbsp fresh thyme
  • Flaky salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Red pepper flakes, to taste
  • 2 tbsp minced chives

Directions

  1. Prepare the Oven and Pizza Peel
Place a pizza steel or stone in the oven and preheat to 500°F. Allow the stone to heat up for a full 45 minutes to ensure it’s thoroughly heated. Meanwhile, generously flour a pizza peel and set it aside for later.
  2. Make the Garlic Butter
In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, combine the butter and chopped garlic. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the butter is melted and the mixture becomes fragrant, which should take about 5 minutes. In a small bowl, mix together the minced green onion, rosemary, and thyme.
  3. Shape the Dough
On a floured surface, flatten the center of one dough ball into a large disk, leaving a 1-inch lip around the edge. Carefully pick up the disk, and holding the thick edge, use gravity to stretch the dough into a 12-inch circle. Lay it on the prepared pizza peel, adjusting the shape as needed to create a perfect circle. Give the peel a jiggle to make sure the dough isn’t sticking; add more flour if necessary.
  4. Assemble the Pizza
Spoon the garlic butter mixture evenly over the surface of the dough. Sprinkle half of the herb mixture over the top, followed by a generous pinch of flaky salt, freshly ground black pepper, and red pepper flakes to taste.
  5. Bake the Pizza
Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated steel or stone in the oven. Bake for about 5 minutes. Then, turn on the broiler and broil for an additional 2-4 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and blistered in spots.
  6. Finish and Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven and immediately sprinkle it with half of the minced chives. Serve the pizza hot, and enjoy the incredible flavors of this buttery garlic creation. Repeat the process with the second dough ball, garlic butter, and herbs.

Ingredients

Scale

1 recipe artisan pizza dough (2 dough balls)
1 stick salted butter
3 garlic cloves, chopped
2 tbsp minced green onion
1 tbsp minced rosemary
1 tbsp fresh thyme
Flaky salt
Freshly ground black pepper
Red pepper flakes, to taste
2 tbsp minced chives

Instructions

Place pizza steel or stone in the oven and preheat to 500°F. Let the stone heat up for a full 45 minutes. Generously flour a pizza peel and set aside.
Combine butter and garlic in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until butter is melted and the mixture is fragrant, about 5 minutes. Place green onion, rosemary, and thyme in a small bowl and stir to combine.
On a floured surface, flatten the middle of the dough ball into a large disk, leaving a 1-inch lip. Pick up the disk, and holding the thick edge, use gravity to carefully shape the dough into a 12-inch circle. Lay on the prepared pizza peel and adjust the shape into a circle. Jiggle the peel to make sure the dough isn’t sticking; add more flour if it is.
Spoon garlic butter over the surface of the dough and scatter half the herb mixture over top. Sprinkle with flaky salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Slide pizza onto steel (or stone) and bake for 5 minutes. Turn on the broiler and broil for 2-4 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and blistered in spots. Remove from the oven, sprinkle with half the chives. Serve immediately.
Repeat with the remaining dough ball, garlic butter, and herbs.
