Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon dried marjoram
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 pound beef sirloin, cut into thin 2 inch strips
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, julienned
- 3 ounces Swiss cheese, thinly sliced
- 4 hoagie rolls, split lengthwise
Instructions
- Mix the salt, pepper, paprika, chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder, thyme, marjoram, and basil together in a small bowl. Place the beef sirloin strips into a large bowl, sprinkle with the seasoning mixture, and stir to coat evenly.
- Heat half of the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned steak and cook, stirring occasionally, to your preferred level of doneness. Once cooked, remove the steak from the skillet and set it aside on a plate.
- Using the same skillet, add the remaining oil followed by the sliced onion and julienned green pepper. Cook and stir the vegetables until they are tender and start to caramelize.
- Preheat your oven’s broiler. Distribute the cooked beef evenly among the four hoagie rolls. Add a layer of the sautéed onion and green pepper. Top each with Swiss cheese slices and place on a baking sheet. Broil in the preheated oven just until the cheese melts.
- Once the cheese has melted, cover each sandwich with the top half of the roll. Serve hot and enjoy the burst of flavors.
