  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp almond extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cans (21 oz each) cherry pie filling
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp almond extract
  • 23 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C). Grease a 15x10x1-inch baking pan.
  2. Cream together the softened butter, sugar, and salt in a large mixing bowl until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Mix in the vanilla and almond extracts.
  5. Gradually add the flour, mixing until combined.
  6. Spread 3 cups of the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
  7. Layer the cherry pie filling over the dough.
  8. Drop the remaining dough by teaspoonfuls over the cherry filling.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown. Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
  10. In a small bowl, mix together the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, almond extract, and enough milk to achieve the desired glaze consistency. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bars.
