- 1 1/2 Tbsp milk (or buttermilk / whipping cream)
- 1 Tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preparing the Cake Batter: In a small mixing bowl, mix the flour, sugar, and salt. In a separate small saucepan, combine the butter, cocoa powder, and hot water. Heat until the butter melts and the mixture starts to boil, then pour it over the dry ingredients and stir.
- Mixing the Wet Ingredients: Add the egg yolk, buttermilk, baking soda, and vanilla to the bowl. Mix everything thoroughly until well combined.
- Baking the Cake: Pour the batter into a greased 9 x 7 inch baking pan and bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
