Each bite is a perfect harmony of flavors and textures, making it an ideal treat for any time of the day.

Ingredients

Scale

1 tablespoon butter, melted
12 pack Hawaiian sweet rolls (e.g., King’s brand)
⅓ cup butter, melted
2 tablespoons brown sugar
½ tablespoon ground cinnamon
⅛ teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 large egg, beaten
3 tablespoons granulated sugar

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Use 1 tablespoon of melted butter to grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Arrange the sweet rolls in the prepared dish. Make an X cut on each roll about two-thirds deep.
In a bowl, mix ⅓ cup melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Drizzle this mixture over the rolls.
Blend cream cheese with granulated sugar until smooth, then incorporate the beaten egg.
Fill the rolls with the cream cheese mixture using a piping bag for ease. You can also cut a corner off a zip-top bag or use a spoon, although it might be trickier.
Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the rolls are golden and the filling has set. The optimal internal temperature for the egg is 145°F (63°C), which can be checked with a thermometer.
Let the rolls cool slightly before serving; the filling will be hot.
