Ingredients
1 Packet (8g) traditional yeast (active dry)
1 cup milk (2% or whole)
¼ cup (50g) + 1 tbsp (15g) sugar
4 cups (500g) all-purpose flour
1 tsp (5.7g) salt
2 large eggs, at room temperature
85 g unsalted butter, room temperature & cubed
For frying: 6 to 8 cups of vegetable oil
½ cup (100g) sugar for coating
For filling: About 1 cup raspberry jam (or any filling of your choice)
Instructions
Warm milk, yeast, and 1 tbsp sugar in a saucepan until 105°F. Set aside for 10 minutes.
Mix flour, salt, and ¼ cup sugar in a bowl. Add eggs and milk mixture; combine into a dough.
Gradually knead in butter until smooth and slightly sticky. Let rise 2 hours.
Punch down dough, roll out, and cut into discs. Let rise 30 minutes.
Heat oil to 350°F. Fry dough discs until golden, coat with sugar.
Fill with jam using a piping bag.
