- 4 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 1/2 teaspoons seasoning salt
- 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1 teaspoon dried minced onion
- 1/2 cup milk (skim, 1%, or 2% work fine)
- 1/2 cup melted butter, margarine, or vegetable oil spread
Instructions
- Preparing the Oven and Dish: Preheat the oven to 400°F (204°C) and spray a 3 qt. casserole dish, a 9×13 inch glass baking dish, or a disposable aluminum pan with cooking spray or oil.
- Mixing the Ingredients: Combine both types of corn with the eggs in a large bowl. In a separate small bowl, mix sugar, cornstarch, seasoned salt, dry mustard, and dried minced onion. Add the dry mixture to the corn mixture and stir thoroughly.
- Adding Liquids and Fat: Gradually stir in the milk and melted butter, ensuring a smooth mixture.
- Baking the Casserole: Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and bake for about 1 hour at 400°F (204°C). Stir halfway through baking. The casserole is done when set and lightly browned on top but still soft in texture.
