The smooth cream cheese base is blended with sharp cheddar, fresh dill, and chopped dill pickles, creating a rich and flavorful snack that pairs beautifully with crunchy crackers or fresh vegetables. The outer coating of shredded cheddar, dill, and lemon zest adds a refreshing burst of flavor and a hint of texture.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Cheese Ball:
16 ounces cream cheese, softened
4 tablespoons sour cream
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon lemon juice
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 1/2 cups chopped dill pickles
2 tablespoons fresh chopped dill
For the Coating:
1/2 cup shredded or chopped cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon fresh chopped dill
1 teaspoon lemon zest

Instructions

Prepare the Cheese Ball Mixture:
In a mixing bowl, use a hand mixer to combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, garlic powder, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Mix for 1-2 minutes until the mixture is smooth and fluffy.
Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese, chopped dill pickles, and fresh dill until well combined.
Shape the Cheese Ball:
Lay two long strips of plastic wrap in an ‘X’ shape on a flat surface.
Spoon the cream cheese mixture into the center of the plastic wrap.
Gather the edges of the plastic wrap and bring them together at the top, tightening to form the mixture into a ball shape.
Transfer the wrapped cheese ball to the refrigerator and chill for at least 2 hours, or until firm.
Coat the Cheese Ball:
Spread the shredded or chopped cheddar cheese, fresh dill, and lemon zest in an even layer on a flat surface.
Unwrap the chilled cheese ball and roll it over the toppings, pressing gently to ensure even coating. Make sure to cover any spots that are not coated.
Serve:
Transfer the coated cheese ball to a serving platter.
Serve with your favorite crackers or fresh vegetables.
