  • Author: Dulcia
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

Introducing the festive Eggnog Bread Delight, a delightful twist on the traditional French toast that incorporates the rich and creamy flavors of eggnog. This recipe is perfect for holiday mornings or any special occasion where you want to add a touch of extravagance to your breakfast routine. With its comforting spices, eggnog base, and subtle hints of rum and orange zest, this dish promises a flavorful start to your day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 23 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp sugar (Splenda can be used as a substitute)
  • 1 tsp rum or brandy extract
  • 1 tsp orange zest
  • 1 1/22 cups eggnog
  • Butter and/or oil, for cooking
  • Thick slices of French or Italian bread (English Muffin bread also works well)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Eggnog Mixture: In a medium-sized mixing bowl, beat the eggs thoroughly. Add in the cinnamon, sugar, rum or brandy extract, and orange zest, stirring them together until combined. Gradually pour in the eggnog and continue stirring to create a smooth, well-blended mixture.
  2. Heat the Cooking Surface: Place a griddle or skillet on the stove over medium-high heat. Once the surface is hot, add a small amount of butter and/or oil to coat it, preparing it for cooking the bread.
  3. Coat the Bread: Dip each slice of bread into the prepared eggnog mixture, making sure both sides are well soaked. Allow the excess mixture to drip off back into the bowl.
  4. Cook the French Toast: Lay the soaked bread slices onto the hot griddle. Cook them until the underside is golden brown, then flip each slice to cook the other side to the same golden brown color.
  5. Serve: Once both sides of the French toast are cooked to perfection, remove them from the griddle and serve hot. Accompany with butter, syrup, powdered sugar, or your favorite toppings for added flavor.
