  • Yield: 8 1x

Ingredients

Scale

For the crust:

1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour 🌾
½ cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed 🧈
¼ cup granulated sugar 🍬
1 large egg yolk 🥚
23 tbsp cold water 💧
For the filling:

56 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and thinly sliced 🍏
¼ cup granulated sugar 🍬
2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted 🧈
1 tsp ground cinnamon 🌟
¼ cup apricot jam 🍑
1 tbsp water 💧

Instructions

1️⃣ Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). 🔥

2️⃣ In a bowl, combine the flour, cubed butter, and sugar. Mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. 🌾🧈🍬

3️⃣ Add the egg yolk and cold water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough comes together. Form into a disc, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes. 🥚💧❄️

4️⃣ Roll out the chilled dough on a lightly floured surface to fit a 9-inch tart pan. Press the dough into the pan and trim the edges. Prick the bottom with a fork. 🌾🍴

5️⃣ Arrange the thinly sliced apples in a circular pattern over the crust, overlapping slightly. 🍏

6️⃣ Sprinkle the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon evenly over the apples. Drizzle the melted butter on top. 🍬🌟🧈

7️⃣ Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown. ⏳🍏🥧

8️⃣ In a small saucepan, heat the apricot jam and water until melted and smooth. Brush the warm jam mixture over the baked tart for a glossy finish. 🍑💧✨

9️⃣ Allow the tart to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your delicious French Apple Tart! 😋🍏🥧
