Ingredients
Scale
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (heat-treated, see note)
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tbsp milk
- ¾ cup chocolate chips
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¾ cup milk
- 1 large egg
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Make the Cookie Dough Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Stir in the vanilla extract, then gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until combined. Mix in the milk to achieve a dough-like consistency. Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Shape and Freeze the Dough Scoop bite-sized portions of the dough (approximately 1-2 tablespoons each), and roll them into balls. Arrange these on a parchment-lined baking sheet and freeze for at least 15-20 minutes, or until firm.
- Prepare the Batter In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, mix the milk and egg. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, stirring into a smooth batter.
- Heat the Oil Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Dip and Fry the Cookie Dough Dip each frozen cookie dough ball into the batter, ensuring it’s evenly coated before gently lowering into the hot oil. Fry for 1-2 minutes, until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove the bites and place them on a paper-towel lined plate to drain excess oil.
