Description

Garlic Butter Rice is a simple yet incredibly flavorful side dish, combining the rich taste of butter with the savory aroma of garlic. This dish features fluffy jasmine or long grain rice cooked to perfection, with the melted butter and garlic coating every grain for a rich and comforting flavor. The freshness of parsley adds a bright, fresh contrast to the buttery richness.

Ingredients

Scale

1 ½ cups dry long grain white rice or jasmine rice, rinsed and drained well
¼ cup finely chopped yellow onion
1 ½ Tbsp minced garlic (or up to 2 Tbsp)
2 ½ cups low-sodium chicken broth
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
4 Tbsp unsalted butter, cut into 1 Tbsp pieces, divided
1 Tbsp minced fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

In a large saucepan, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat.
Add the finely chopped yellow onion and sauté for about 3 minutes until it starts to deepen in color.
Stir in the minced garlic and sauté for another minute until it becomes fragrant, being careful not to let it brown.
Pour in the chicken broth, season with salt and pepper to taste, and bring to a boil.
Add the rinsed rice, give it a quick stir, then cover with a tight-fitting lid. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 15-18 minutes, or until the liquid has been absorbed.
Remove the saucepan from heat and let it rest for 5-10 minutes.
Add the remaining 3 tablespoons of butter and toss the rice, fluffing it with a fork.
Serve the garlic butter rice warm, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
