Ideal for a fuss-free family dinner or a special occasion, each packet delivers a complete meal with a burst of flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound steak (sirloin, ribeye, or your choice), cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 pound baby potatoes, halved or diced if larger
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme or fresh, chopped
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven or Grill: Oven: Preheat to 425F (220C). Grill: Preheat to medium-high heat.
  2. Prepare the Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix the baby potatoes with olive oil, minced garlic, smoked paprika, onion powder, thyme, salt, and pepper. Add the steak chunks and toss gently to ensure an even coating of the seasoning.
  3. Assemble the Foil Packets: Cut four large sheets of heavy-duty aluminum foil. Distribute the steak and potato mixture equally among the sheets, centering the mixture. Drizzle each with the melted garlic butter and garnish with chopped parsley.
  4. Seal the Packets: Fold the edges of the foil together tightly to ensure that no steam escapes during cooking.
  5. Cook the Foil Packets: Oven: Bake on a baking sheet for 20-25 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the steak is cooked to your preference. Grill: Place the packets on the grill and cook for about 10-12 minutes on each side.
  6. Serve: Carefully open the packets, watching for hot steam. Serve immediately, either directly from the foil or transferred to plates. Optionally garnish with more parsley if desired.
