Gingerbread Latte

Cozy Up with a Homemade Gingerbread Latte

As the leaves start to fall and the air gets crisper, there’s nothing quite like wrapping your hands around a warm mug of Gingerbread Latte. This festive drink envelops all the flavors of the season and is perfect for those chilly mornings or relaxed afternoons. It’s vegan-friendly, easy to make, and absolutely delightful. Here’s how you can whip up this cozy treat right in the comfort of your home.

Ingredients

  • Ground Ginger: ½ tsp
  • Ground Cinnamon: ¼ tsp
  • Ground Nutmeg: A small pinch
  • Soft Brown Sugar: 1 tsp (or more, to taste)
  • Vanilla Essence/Extract: 2 drops
  • Double Espresso: 60 ml
  • Milk of Your Choice: 250 ml (for a vegan option, almond, soy, or oat milk work great)
  • To Serve: Vegan whipped cream
  • To Sprinkle: Crushed gingersnap biscuits

Directions

  1. Prepare the Spice Mixture:
    • In a 300ml cup or mug, combine the ground ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, and vanilla.
    • Add the espresso to these dry ingredients and stir until you form a wet, syrupy paste. If the sugar isn’t dissolving well, a little boiling water or hot milk can help.
  2. Froth the Milk:
    • Steam your milk using a steam wand or milk frother. If you don’t have these tools, no worries! Just heat your milk in a microwave or on the stove, then use a French press to foam it up. Pump the plunger in an up and down motion to incorporate air and create foam.
  3. Combine and Serve:
    • Pour the heated, foamy milk into your cup, mixing it thoroughly with the spiced espresso paste. The heat from the milk will blend all the flavors beautifully.
    • Top your latte with a generous dollop of vegan whipped cream and sprinkle some crushed gingersnap biscuits for an extra touch of gingery goodness.

Ingredients

Scale

½ tsp ground ginger
¼ tsp ground cinnamon
a small pinch ground nutmeg
1 tsp (or more according to taste) soft brown sugar
2 drops vanilla essence or extract
60ml double espresso
250ml milk of your choice
to serve: vegan whipped cream
to sprinkle: crushed gingersnap biscuits

Instructions

Put the ground ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar, and vanilla into a mug or 300ml cup. Add the espresso and mix the ingredients into a wet syrupy paste (or you can use a drop of boiling water or hot milk to help the sugar dissolve).
Steam your milk. If you are not using a steam wand or milk frother, heat some milk in a pot or microwave and put it in a French press. Carefully plunge the filter in an up/down motion to push air through the hot milk to get foamy milk.
Pour heated, textured milk into your cup so that the syrup mixes with the milk. Dollop some whipped cream on top and dust with ginger and/or cinnamon. Add some crushed gingersnap biscuits on top for extra gingery goodness.
