  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup (56g) almond flour
  • 1/2 cup (45g) grated parmesan cheese
  • 1-2 tablespoons (7-14g) coconut flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning

Directions

  1. Preparation: Begin by slicing your mozzarella sticks in half to create 12 pieces. This will make them the perfect size for snacking.
  2. Set Up Your Dipping Stations:
    • In one bowl, beat the egg until the yolk and whites are fully combined.
    • In a second bowl, mix together the almond flour, grated parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and sea salt.
    • Place the coconut flour in a third bowl.
  3. Coating:
    • Dip each mozzarella stick first into the coconut flour, shaking off any excess.
    • Next, dip them into the beaten egg, ensuring they are fully coated.
    • Finally, roll them in the almond flour mixture, pressing to coat thoroughly.
  4. Freeze: Arrange the coated sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze for at least 1 hour to ensure the coating is firm.
  5. Fry:
    • Heat oil in a frying pan to 350°F (175°C). The oil should be deep enough to cover the sticks halfway.
    • Fry the mozzarella sticks until golden brown on all sides, about a few minutes.
  6. Drain: Transfer the fried mozzarella sticks to a paper towel-lined plate or wire rack to remove excess oil.

Description

Keto Mozzarella Sticks are the perfect snack for anyone following a low-carb or ketogenic diet. With a crispy almond flour and parmesan coating, these mozzarella sticks are just as satisfying as the traditional version but without the carbs. The combination of Italian seasoning and garlic powder adds a burst of flavor that pairs perfectly with the gooey, melted cheese inside.

Ingredients

Scale

6 mozzarella sticks (200g), sliced in half
1 large egg, beaten
1/2 cup (56g) almond flour
1/2 cup (45g) grated parmesan cheese
12 tablespoons (7-14g) coconut flour
1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
2 teaspoons Italian seasoning

Instructions

In a bowl, beat one large egg until the yolk and whites are fully combined.
In a second bowl, combine the almond flour, parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and sea salt.
Place the coconut flour in a third bowl.
If you haven’t already, cut the six mozzarella sticks in half to make 12 shorter mozzarella sticks.
To coat the mozzarella sticks, start by covering each piece with coconut flour, then dip it in the beaten egg, and finally roll it in the almond flour mixture. Ensure all 12 mozzarella sticks are thoroughly coated.
Transfer the coated mozzarella sticks to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze them for at least 1 hour.
Pour enough oil into a frying pan to cover the bottom by at least half an inch. Heat the oil to 350°F (175°C).
Fry the mozzarella sticks in the hot oil until they are golden brown on all sides, which will take only a few minutes.
Transfer the fried mozzarella sticks to a paper towel-lined plate or wire rack to remove excess oil.
