Description

Lebanese Spicy Potatoes, or Batata Harra, are a classic Middle Eastern side dish that’s perfect for anyone who loves bold, flavorful food. These golden, crispy potatoes are roasted to perfection, then tossed with fragrant garlic, cilantro, and a kick of red pepper for a satisfying burst of heat. The combination of flavors and textures makes each bite deliciously irresistible.

Ingredients

Scale

8 medium gold potatoes, peeled and cut into cubes
2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 garlic cloves, minced
2 teaspoons crushed red pepper, divided
1 cup chopped cilantro, divided
Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Spread the cubed potatoes in a single layer on the baking sheet. Drizzle with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and sprinkle with salt. Roast for about 30 minutes, flipping the potatoes halfway through, until they turn golden brown and crisp.
While the potatoes are roasting, heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a small pan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic, 1 teaspoon of crushed red pepper, and half of the chopped cilantro. Sauté for about 2 minutes, or until the garlic becomes golden and fragrant. Remove from heat and set aside.
Once the potatoes are roasted, remove them from the oven and transfer them to a serving dish. Toss the potatoes with the garlic mixture, the remaining cilantro, and the remaining crushed red pepper.
Serve the Batata Harra hot or warm with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice on top if desired.
