Ingredients

2 large white onions
8 mozzarella cheese slices
2 cups flour
5 eggs
2 cups bread crumbs
Oil for frying
Marinara sauce for dipping


Instructions

Peel and cut onions into ½ inch rings. Separate carefully.
Cut mozzarella into 4 strips each.
Place a smaller onion ring inside a larger one, fill the gap with mozzarella strips. Repeat and freeze for 1 hour.
Set flour, eggs, and breadcrumbs in separate bowls.
Coat each ring in flour, then egg, breadcrumbs, back to egg, and breadcrumbs again. Freeze.
Heat oil over high heat.
Fry until golden (about 1 minute). Don’t overcook.
Drain on paper towels.
Serve with marinara sauce.
