Description

Imagine waking up to the sweet aroma of caramelized pecans and buttery French toast baking in your oven. This Overnight Pecan Pie French Toast recipe brings all the decadent flavors of a classic pecan pie into a lush breakfast dish that’s both easy to prepare and irresistibly delicious. With a preparation that begins the night before, all you need to do in the morning is bake it to golden perfection. The combination of rich, creamy custard soaked into fluffy French bread, topped with a pecan-filled syrup, makes for a breakfast or brunch dish that’s as satisfying as it is beautiful on the table.

Ingredients

Scale

3/4 cup whole milk
3/4 cup heavy cream
6 large eggs plus 3 egg yolks
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
1 loaf French bread, cut into 8 slices
6 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 cup light brown sugar, packed
1/3 cup light corn syrup
1/4 cup maple syrup
1 cup pecans, chopped

Instructions

In a large bowl, combine the milk, cream, eggs, egg yolks, and vanilla. Beat well and set aside.
Arrange the sliced bread in a large shallow bowl. Pour the liquid mixture over the bread, ensuring all slices are evenly coated. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 6 hours, or overnight.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Remove from heat and whisk in the brown sugar, corn syrup, maple syrup, and pecans.
Spread this mixture evenly across the bottom of a 3-quart casserole dish. Carefully arrange the soaked bread slices on top.
Bake for 35 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool for 5 minutes before serving warm.
