Description

Philly Cheesesteak Casserole brings all the flavors of a classic Philly cheesesteak into an easy, comforting bake. Layered with seasoned ground beef, sautéed onions and peppers, and topped with gooey provolone and mozzarella cheese, this dish is a satisfying twist on the beloved sandwich. Cream cheese and beef broth add a creamy, savory touch, creating a casserole that’s rich and packed with flavor.

Ingredients

Scale

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 large onion, thinly sliced
1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 pound ground beef
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup beef broth
1 cup shredded provolone cheese
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
6 oz sliced provolone cheese (for topping)
Cooking spray, for greasing

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with cooking spray.
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the onion and bell pepper until tender and golden, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
Increase heat to medium-high, add ground beef, and season with salt and pepper. Cook until browned and crumbled, about 6-8 minutes. Drain any excess grease.
Stir in Worcestershire sauce, then add the cream cheese, stirring until well combined and melted. Pour in beef broth and let it simmer for a couple of minutes.
Transfer the beef mixture into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle shredded provolone and mozzarella evenly over the beef.
Layer the sliced provolone cheese on top, overlapping slightly for full coverage.
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden-brown in spots.
Allow the casserole to stand for about 5 minutes before serving.
