Instructions
- Preparing the Puff Pastry Start by removing the puff pastry sheet from the fridge. Allow it to reach room temperature for easier handling. Meanwhile, preheat your oven to 200ºC / 400ºF / Gas mark 6 to ensure it’s hot and ready for baking.
- Rolling and Spreading Lightly dust your worktop with flour to prevent sticking, and then unroll the puff pastry sheet. Spread a generous layer of Nutella over one half of the pastry sheet, ensuring an even coating.
- Folding the Pastry Once the Nutella is spread, fold the other half of the puff pastry over like closing a book. Press gently along the edges to seal in the chocolate spread.
- Cutting the Shapes Using a gingerbread man cutter, press down into the pastry to cut out shapes. Arrange these cutouts on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, leaving enough space between each piece for expansion during baking.
- Glazing In a small dish, lightly beat an egg. Use a pastry brush to glaze the surface of each pastry, giving them a beautiful golden finish upon baking.
- Baking Place the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 10-13 minutes or until the pastries are puffed and golden brown. Watch closely to avoid over-browning.
