Delight your guests this holiday season with a charming twist on the classic Rice Krispie treats. This recipe transforms the simple cereal and marshmallow concoction into an enchanting festive treat, complete with a rich milk chocolate blend, a silky white chocolate drizzle, and adorable sugarpaste decorations. These Rice Krispie Holiday Treats are perfect for holiday parties, family gatherings, or simply as a fun baking project with kids.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 200 g Milk Chocolate
  • 50 g Unsalted Butter
  • 180 g Mini Marshmallows
  • 100 g Rice Krispies or Coco Pops
  • 50 g White Chocolate
  • White Sugarpaste or Pre-coloured Sugarpaste
  • Green Food Colour Gel
  • Red Food Colour Gel

Instructions

  1. Making the Rice Krispie Base In a saucepan, gently melt the milk chocolate and butter over low to medium heat. Stir in the mini marshmallows until the mixture is smooth and well combined. Alternatively, this can be done in the microwave by heating the chocolate and butter first, then adding marshmallows and microwaving in 30-second bursts, stirring in between.
  2. Mixing with Rice Krispies Transfer the melted mixture into a large mixing bowl containing the Rice Krispies. Stir thoroughly, ensuring each piece of cereal is coated evenly. Allow this to cool slightly before proceeding to the next step.
  3. Forming the Balls Scoop the mixture using a tablespoon and roll into balls. To prevent sticking, slightly dampen your hands with water. Place each ball on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
  4. Preparing White Chocolate and Sugarpaste Decorations Melt the white chocolate in a heatproof bowl set over a pan of simmering water, making sure the bowl doesn’t touch the water, or microwave it until smooth. Color the white sugarpaste with red and green food gels to make holly leaves and berries, or use pre-coloured sugarpaste.
  5. Decorating the Treats Once chilled, drizzle the treats with melted white chocolate using a piping bag or a snipped corner of a freezer bag. Adorn each treat with the sugarpaste holly leaves and berries, pressing them gently to stick.
