Ingredients:

  • 1 head garlic
  • Extra virgin olive oil for drizzling
  • 1 (12-count) package of dinner rolls, halved lengthwise
  • 1 – 1 1/2 cups marinara sauce
  • 3/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 3/4 cup shredded provolone cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup thinly sliced pepperoni
  • 3 tablespoons salted butter, at room temperature or melted
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh sage
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 pinch chili flakes

Directions:

1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). This ensures it’s ready when you need it and helps the garlic roast evenly.

2. Roast the Garlic: Slice off the top of the garlic head to expose the cloves. Place the garlic on a piece of foil, drizzle with extra virgin olive oil, and wrap it up. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-55 minutes until the cloves are golden and soft. The aroma will be irresistible!

3. Prepare the Rolls: While the garlic is roasting, place the bottom half of the dinner rolls on a lined baking sheet. Spread a generous layer of marinara sauce over the rolls. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and provolone cheeses on top of the marinara sauce. Add the thinly sliced pepperoni and then sprinkle half of the grated parmesan cheese over everything. Place the top half of the rolls back on top.

4. Make the Garlic Butter: Once the garlic is done roasting and has cooled enough to handle, squeeze the roasted garlic cloves into a bowl. Mix the garlic with the salted butter, remaining parmesan cheese, chopped sage, dried basil, oregano, parsley, and a pinch of chili flakes. This mixture will create a flavorful spread for the rolls.

5. Assemble and Bake: Spread the garlic butter mixture over the top of the rolls. Cover the baking sheet with foil to prevent the tops from browning too quickly. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

6. Serve: Brush the tops of the sliders with any remaining garlic butter. Serve hot and enjoy the deliciousness!
