1 pound fresh asparagus
1 tablespoon olive oil
¼ teaspoon kosher salt
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
The juice of 1 lemon (about 1 tablespoon)
Red pepper flakes (optional, for serving)


Instructions

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (218 degrees C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Rinse and dry the asparagus. Trim the woodsy part of the stems, about an inch from the bottom using a sharp knife.
Arrange the asparagus in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil, and season with salt and pepper. Toss to coat.
Sprinkle grated parmesan over the asparagus.
Roast in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes, until fork-tender.
Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle with lemon juice and optional red pepper flakes before serving.
