Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 racks of beef ribs, sliced into individual ribs
  • SWEET AND SPICY BBQ RUB:
  • ½ cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 2 tablespoons granulated garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon granulated onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • ¼½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • QUICK BBQ SAUCE:
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar or red wine vinegar
  • ¼ cup Sweet Spicy BBQ Rub
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon liquid smoke
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Make the Rub: In a small bowl, combine all the BBQ rub ingredients. Mix thoroughly using a fork to break up any lumps, ensuring a uniform blend.
  2. Coat the Ribs: Use about ½ cup of the BBQ rub to generously coat a rack of ribs, or double the amount if preparing two racks. Arrange the coated ribs in the slow cooker, set to low, and cook for approximately 5 hours or until tender.
  3. Make the Sauce: In a small saucepan over medium-high heat, mix together all the sauce ingredients. Bring to a slight bubble, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Prepare the Ribs: Remove the ribs from the slow cooker. Place them on a foil-lined baking sheet, brush generously with the BBQ sauce, and broil or grill until caramelized.
