Description

Smoked Gouda Fritters are crispy, cheesy bites of goodness, made with a blend of smoked gouda, mozzarella, and ricotta. Perfectly fried until golden, they’re paired with a tangy-sweet Balsamic Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce, making them an irresistible appetizer or snack.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Fritters:
1 (15-oz) container whole milk ricotta
1 cup shredded smoked gouda
1 cup shredded mozzarella
1 cup flour
3 eggs, lightly beaten
2 cups seasoned breadcrumbs
Canola oil, for frying
For the Dipping Sauce:
⅓ cup Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons grainy mustard
2 tablespoons aged balsamic vinegar
1 tablespoon honey
Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

Form the fritters: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ricotta, smoked gouda, and mozzarella. Scoop about 1 tablespoon of the cheese mixture, roll into a ball, and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Repeat until all the mixture is used. Freeze the formed fritters for at least 30 minutes.
Coat the fritters: Remove fritters from the freezer. Dredge each in flour, dip in beaten eggs, and coat with breadcrumbs. Place back on the baking sheet. Freeze for another 30 minutes (or store in plastic bags for future frying).
Fry the fritters: Heat canola oil in a large pot to about 350°F (175°C). Fry the chilled fritters in batches for 2-3 minutes, turning until golden brown on all sides. Remove and sprinkle with salt. Repeat until all fritters are fried.
Make the dipping sauce: While the fritters are chilling, mix Dijon mustard, grainy mustard, balsamic vinegar, honey, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Set aside until ready to serve.
Serve: Enjoy the warm, crispy fritters with the balsamic honey mustard dipping sauce!
