  • 3/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons buttermilk ranch powder
  • 2 tablespoons nutritional yeast (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon citric acid (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Seasoning Mix: In a medium bowl, whisk together the olive oil, ranch powder, nutritional yeast if using, red pepper flakes, onion powder, garlic powder, kosher salt, and citric acid if using, until the mixture is thoroughly combined.
  2. Coat the Splitters: Place the mini saltine splitters in a gallon-sized ziploc bag. Pour the prepared seasoned oil mixture over the splitters. Seal the bag and gently shake, ensuring all the splitters are evenly coated with the seasoning.
  3. Marinate: Allow the coated splitters to marinate for at least 2 hours, or ideally overnight, to maximize the infusion of flavors.
  4. Optional Baking: For added crunch, preheat your oven to 250°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread the seasoned splitters evenly on the sheet. Bake for 20-30 minutes, tossing them every 5-10 minutes until golden brown and slightly crisp. Remove from the oven and allow to cool.
