Ingredients
Garlic Aioli:
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 clove garlic, minced or pressed
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon salt
Steak Sandwich:
24 ounces skirt steak
2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/8 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 large onions, thinly sliced
4 hoagie rolls
1 cup arugula
8 slices Provolone cheese
Instructions
1οΈβ£ In a medium mixing bowl, add mayonnaise, garlic, lemon juice, and salt. Stir and set aside. π₯
2οΈβ£ In a large bowl, add steak, brown sugar, balsamic vinegar, vegetable oil, salt, and pepper. Toss well to coat. π₯©
3οΈβ£ In a cast-iron skillet on medium heat, add butter and onions. Cook, stirring often, for 10-12 minutes until theyβve caramelized. π§
4οΈβ£ Remove onions from the skillet and set aside. π¬οΈ
5οΈβ£ Raise the heat to high and add steak to the skillet, letting the marinade drip off before adding to the pan. Sear each side for 3-4 minutes. π₯
6οΈβ£ Let the steak rest for 5 minutes, then slice thinly against the grain. πͺ
7οΈβ£ Brush hoagie rolls with melted butter and place buttered side down onto a griddle or pan to brown for 2-3 minutes. π₯
