Ingredients
Scale
- 1 tablespoon water, warmed (about 105-115°F)
- 6 tablespoons (75 g) granulated sugar, divided
- 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 cup (245 g) whole milk, warmed (about 105-115°F)
- 7 tablespoons (99 g) unsalted butter, melted, divided
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 3 ½ cups (444.5 g) bread flour
- ¼ cup (½ stick / 57 g) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar
- 2 tablespoons honey
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
- Preparing the Yeast Mixture In the bowl of a stand mixer with a dough hook attachment, combine the warm water, 1 teaspoon of sugar, and yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes foamy and bubbly.
- Mixing Wet Ingredients Add the remaining sugar, warmed milk, 6 tablespoons of melted butter, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until just combined.
- Adding the Egg Incorporate the room temperature egg and mix until fully combined.
- Incorporating Flour Gradually add the bread flour to the mixture and blend for about 3 minutes on medium-high speed. Scrape the dough to the center of the bowl as needed.
- Kneading the Dough Knead the dough on low speed for 3-4 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- First Rise Lightly spray a large bowl with nonstick cooking spray and place the dough inside. Cover it with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm area for 1-2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
- Shaping the Rolls Once the dough has risen, gently punch it down to deflate. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape each into a smooth ball, placing them evenly in the prepared baking dish.
- Second Rise Cover the rolls with a kitchen towel and let them rise in a warm spot for about 30 minutes, or until they’ve doubled in size.
- Baking Preheat the oven to 350°F. Bake the rolls for 12-15 minutes, or until they turn a beautiful golden brown. Brush with the remaining tablespoon of melted butter immediately after removing them from the oven.
- Making Cinnamon Honey Butter In a medium bowl, combine the softened butter, confectioners’ sugar, honey, and cinnamon. Mix well until creamy and smooth.
