Cornstarch: 1 tablespoon

Semisweet Chocolate Chips: 3/4 cup (128 grams), divided
Toffee Bits: 1 cup (170 grams), divided


Instructions

Preparation: Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C). Line an 8×8-inch metal baking pan with parchment paper.
Melt Butter: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter for about 1 minute. Let cool slightly.
Mix Wet Ingredients: Whisk melted butter with granulated and brown sugars. Add eggs, egg yolk, and vanilla, whisking vigorously. Stir in the vegetable oil and cocoa powder.
Add Dry Ingredients: Fold in flour, cornstarch, and salt using a rubber spatula. Mix in most of the chocolate chips and toffee bits, saving some for topping.
Bake: Spread batter in the pan. Top with reserved chocolate chips and toffee bits. Bake for 30 minutes, or until a cake tester comes out with moist crumbs. Extend baking by 5-7 minutes for a less fudgy texture.
